They blew me away. When I got back home at 1:30 I decided to go to the party that The Academy boys were throwing. Got there at 2 am, drank the rest of their beer, and fell asleep at 6:00 am. It turned out to be a good night but it could have been perfect. I feel a creative burst is going to happen in the next few days, can't wait for that. Been working lots, and lots. I can't wait for the Academy EP to be done and out. Then everyone will see what Brian and I have been doing the last 4 - 5 months. I think the EP is going to change the lives of everyone involved, for the better. You'll see. "Sorry for the miscommunication. These are to replace an unhappy memory in 2004. That's a first. Now all I have to do is wrap it. I'm working on new tunes. Spanning from really slow sad ones, to weird "eastern" sounding ones, to poppy-dance tunes, to stripped down rhythmic rants. And knowing me, none of them are finished. Don't worry its all part of the master plan. A friend of mine told me I should start reading more, so I've started "Everything is Illuminated" by Jonathan Safran Foer. It's pretty good. Many people have told me that "The Da Vinci Code" by Dan Brown is ace, so I'll dive into that one next. I saw the 3rd "Lord of the Rings"......Good stuff. Saw "The Last Samurai" also a plus. In other words, its the Beatles amp, reissued to great detail.

listening to
Death Cab for Cutie Transatlanticism
Hey Mercedes Loses Control
The Beach Boys Today! / Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!)
Supergrass Life On Other Planets
Ryan Adams Heartbreaker
Belle and Sebastian Dear Catastrophe Waitress

This weekend was crazy busy for yours truly. Mixing all day Friday. Friday night recorded guitar for "Wednesday" a 4th phase song. (Again sounds amazing!) Saturday all day Pre production for the Academy EP. Then from 4 - 8 I attended my cousin Beth's wedding. Popping back in to the studio after the wedding (before the reception) and back to the studio after dinner. Gotta love the free drinks (open bar!) The wedding was fun, saw some friends and family I had not seen in a while. (and Lee's sister Katie) Saturday night at Brian's. (Pool, music, and more loud mouth soup) Sunday, showed Brandon from Envisions of Red the final mixes, he dug. Hung out with Mike from the Academy for a few. Then went to my dad's for a birthday dinner. Which was a surprise.........A limo ride to Navy Pier, and dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. The food was great, my sister had her first legal drink, and I had my fill of shrimp.

CUBS, CUBS, CUBS!!!!!!!

listening to:
Elliott Smith XO
Mates of State Team Boo

I STILL BUY ALBUMS!!! and love every experience. Sounds like 4th Phase is in it's Abbey Road studio period. (Beatles, Pink Floyd) With Geoff Emerick and Alan Parsons as engineers. Which means it sounds beautiful, airy, and coloured. We might practice again early next week. Yes, today I hit the luck bug and came across a 1975 Stage I Rhodes Electric Piano w/ 73 keys. It's in great condition but I'm still going to get it tuned up for tip top performance. Had a "new songs" practice with the 4th Phase, we'll make em rock when we get drums in the mix. Recording at the Gallery of Carpet is steady, we've got some big/important projects coming up, I'm really excited. Oooo, we had a great jam yesterday, and we got it recorded so as to not forget it. Yes it's true, after about a 4 month break, we got together and dusted off the o'll "P in P" songs. The practice ended with good results, with a probable 2 more practices before Lee goes back to U of I. Our goal for this upcoming school year is "a show a month" so look forward to that. August is stacking up to be a busy month for TW. "It sure is Scooby!!" Lots bands are lined up to record in the GOC. Went to Sam Ash today and I bought a drum tuner. It's mostly for the studio, part of my job is to tweek all the shimmeys out of the tom, snare, and kick. Well, the tuner works great! No drummer should be with out one. (Typical "music store" employees) The guy who sold it to me didn't know what it was or how to work it. So I showed him..... this is because I checked it out using "the internet" pryor to going to Sam Ash. Take that!!! I also checked out the acousitc guitars, and I like the Gibson J45. The J45 is the guitar that Elliott Smith uses, also Billie of Green Day plays one in the "Good Riddance" video. Viewed "Minority Report" a few days before that (finally). Both were wonderful experiences. I'm seriously thinking of buying a nice acoustic guitar, I'm checking out websites and stores to see what people are playing, and what sounds good. Just a matter of time before I get that nice piece of musical wood. Also thinking of getting a Fender Rhodes Electric Piano. I think that after both of those buys would officially make me the next Thom Yorke. (Just Kidding) .....No changed my mind, I've got the beard and everything. Oh, hung out with the good old John Erler yesterday, haven't seen him since forever, he says hi ( or does he ). Also The Replacements wrote a song called "Alex Chilton." Yea everyone should listen and love The Replacements. I revisited the movie "Good Will Hunting" tonight, its better than I thought way back when I saw it the first time. I'm still not a big fan of Matt Damon or Ben Affleck. Our one night stand will go down as the best musical sex I've ever had, well... I guess I'll just never tell you about Q and not U which was just lust at first sight. The Plan played for 2 hours last night and I got home at 2am and had to work at 9. They took requests for most of the show, and it turned out well. Travis (the singer) had some funny conversations with the crowd, and reminisced about the early days. They played "Ice of Boston" toward the end, and the crowd filled the stage (there were no bouncers in front) and they all started to dance with the crowd. As they closed the night Travis gave out a whimpered thanks to the crowd, you could tell he was holding back tears, and so was I.
Sorry for all the mushyness, I think I'm having my "man-period."
Today during my lunch break at work, I encountered the best hour of "Modern Rock" radio in my life time. The program was "90's at noon" on Q101, I was so shocked and excited I wrote down the set list they played: Pavement "Cut Your Hair", Blur "Beetlebum", Smashing Pumpkins "33", The Cure "Friday I'm In Love", Radiohead "Just", Superdrag "Sucked Out", Weezer "Buddy Holly", with some Local H and Hole which I'm indifferent. Each song brought a new memory, and caught me inbetween a smile and a tear. Sorry that was just another part of the "masculine crimson wave." The good part of it is I write my best work when I'm under this state.
Pray to Thom Yorke that Brian and I get tickets tomorrow morning at 10.
listening to
The Gloria Record Start Here
Elliott Smith Figure 8

Shows, Shows, Shows, gotta get tickets for Dismemberment Plan on Thurs, Blur on July 14, and Radiohead on August 23. I just let the situation go in frustration. 2 days later I'm talking to someone from work and she hands me a Twizzler saying, "Here you can have this, two came out when I bought one."
